Twenty -five people were killed in an accident related to separate rain in the Southwest Balochistan Province Pakistan, Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said.

Heavy rain began to attack various districts in the province on Monday and heavy rain continued, resulting in a number of accidents. The capital of Quetta Province was declared a disaster affected area after eight people including children were killed in an accident triggered by rain, reported the Xinhua news agency.

Director General of Naseer Ahmad Nasar said that more than 200 houses were damaged and around 2,000 animals were killed in heavy rain, adding that heavy rain also caused flash-flowing in large water drainage and inundated by several lowland areas.

More than 40 people were injured in the rain and people who were injured critically treated in various hospitals in the province. According to local media reports, several people including five coal mining workers, a shepherd with their livestock, and two children were swept away by flash floods in the province.

Operations to rescue and assistance are underway, with district administration distributing food items and other needs to families affected by rain.

The rainy season is expected to continue until Thursday in various provincial districts, according to PDMA.
