During a recent conversation with SS Rajamouli, director Prashanth Neel shared insights into the upcoming film featuring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, revealing that it has received an “A” certificate.
Prior to the release of “Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire” on December 22, director Prashanth Neel, along with actors Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, engaged in a candid discussion with director SS Rajamouli. The trio delved into various aspects, including their involvement in the project and the film’s plot. Notably, Prashanth openly discussed the movie and the unexpected “A” certificate it received.
Contrary to the intention, the film was not meant to be excessively violent. According to Prashanth, despite the violent and lawless backdrop of the fictional nation of Khansar, the primary focus was on narrating the story of two childhood friends, Deva and Vardha. Emphasizing the drama at the core of “Salaar,” Prashanth mentioned, “The aggressiveness in my film is pale compared to Telugu cinema.” The director expressed disappointment about the adult certificate, stating that the film’s intensity was essential to the narrative. Despite assurances from Prabhas, Prashanth was disheartened by the necessity of making cuts mandated by the censor board.
Addressing comparisons with his previous work, “KGF,” Prashanth clarified that the similar color schemes in “Salaar” were not intentional. He highlighted that the aim was to depict the grim and tough world the characters inhabit. Both Prabhas and Prithviraj humorously acknowledged Prashanth’s affinity for monochrome, with Prabhas admitting, “I would query Prithviraj if he can see the distinction because I didn’t.”
“Salaar” unfolds in the dynamic city of Khansar, where Vardha seeks assistance from his childhood friend Deva to overcome threats to his ascent. The film features music by Ravi Basrur, with notable roles played by Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu. The first part of “Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire” is set to release on December 22.
Scheduled for release in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi on December 22, “Salaar” will face competition from the film “Dunki” at the box office. Prabhas, in a previous statement, expressed that “Salaar” would explore the intense emotions of the main character, portraying a role unlike any he has played before. The actor, who engaged in workshops for the film, discussed character nuances with Prashanth before significant scenes, reflecting their collaborative approach to the project.
