Jack Black Teases Potential 'School of Rock' Sequel

Renowned Emmy Award-winning American actor and comedian, Jack Black, famous for his iconic portrayal of Dewey Finn in the 2003 hit film “School of Rock,” has hinted at the possibility of a sequel to the beloved musical comedy.

Directed by Richard Linklater, “School of Rock” held the distinction of being the highest-grossing music-themed comedy for over a decade.

In a recent interview with JOE, Black expressed his enthusiasm for a potential sequel, stating, “I wish there’d be a ‘School of Rock 2: Electric Boogaloo,’ I’m ready.”

The original film follows Dewey, a struggling musician who takes on a substitute teaching job at a prestigious school, ultimately forming a rock band with his students. The cast – Mike White, Joan Cusack, Adam Pascal, Lucas Papaelias, Chris Stack, Sarah Silverman, and Miranda Cosgrove.

Since its release, “School of Rock” has seen various adaptations, notably a television series produced by Nickelodeon, which aired for three seasons between 2016 and 2018.

Black expressed his desire for Mike White, the original writer of “School of Rock,” to pen the script for the sequel. However, he acknowledged White’s commitment to his Emmy-winning HBO series, “The White Lotus.”

“Mike White, who wrote the original, is a genius,” remarked Black. “For the sequel, we’d need him back at the helm, but he is currently tied up with ‘The White Lotus’ which is the top show on TV”

“The White Lotus,” currently filming its third season, has garnered critical acclaim for its stellar cast, including Jennifer Coolidge, Sydney Sweeney, and Theo James.
