Shakira Opens Up About Finding Her Old Music Cringe-Worthy

Renowned for her captivating moves and delivering some of the most memorable musical compositions, Shakira recently opened up about her evolving perspective on her past work during a segment on First We Feast’s Hot Ones.

Reflecting on her earlier music, the Colombian sensation admitted to feeling a sense of cringe-worthiness, noting that she used to “overdo” certain aspects of her performances. When pressed further on this sentiment, she candidly remarked, “So many things.”

Explaining her perspective, the “She Wolf” artist delved into the nuances of her vocal delivery, acknowledging that she used to embellish her singing with excessive cries and theatrics. With a self-deprecating laugh, she described it as “exaggerated” and “a little baroque,” playfully mimicking her past style.

However, Shakira also highlighted her growth as an artist, particularly in terms of her vocal technique. She attributed this development to experiences like motherhood, noting how her voice has evolved to become “thicker, more rounded, more full” after her pregnancies with her two children, Milan and Sasha, whom she shares with her ex-partner, Gerard Pique.

Expressing her evolving sense of self and artistic autonomy, the Grammy winner emphasized that her current musical choices are reflective of her personal evolution. Despite her lighthearted tone, Shakira underscored the sincerity of her statement, acknowledging the ongoing transformation of her voice over the years.

Transitioning to her recent endeavors, Shakira’s 12th studio album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” debuted on March 22, 2024, featuring collaborations with esteemed artists like Rauw Alejandro, Ozuna, Bizarrap, and Karol G. This latest project showcases her continued innovation and artistic versatility, affirming her enduring impact on the music industry.
