Larry David's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Finale Evokes Memories of 'Seinfeld

Larry David’s acclaimed series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” drew to a close on April 7, 2024, marking the end of a 12-season journey spanning 24 years.

The final episode evoked a sense of nostalgia among viewers as it wrapped up the storyline. This season commenced with Larry David inadvertently running afoul of a new Georgia state law, leading to his arrest. In a twist of fate, Larry’s act of kindness towards Leon Black’s Auntie Rae at a polling station garnered him praise from liberal circles, turning him into an unwitting hero.

Throughout its final season, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” seemed to echo themes from the iconic NBC sitcom “Seinfeld,” which Larry David co-created with Jerry Seinfeld. Notably, while “Seinfeld” famously concluded in 1998 with its protagonist’s incarceration, the culmination of the 12th season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which premiered in 2000, saw Larry David walking free after his arrest.

In a nod to “Seinfeld,” the series finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” saw Larry facing trial, with subtle callbacks to the former’s finale. In a stroke of comedic genius, the 76-year-old comedian crafted a fitting conclusion for his series.

Titled “No Lessons Learned,” the last episode featured appearances from several memorable characters from “Seinfeld.” Despite Larry’s conviction for breaching the election law, Jerry managed to salvage the situation by uncovering a juror’s breach of sequestration protocols, resulting in a mistrial.

The comedic brilliance peaked as Larry and Jerry pondered over the potential endings for “Seinfeld” while walking out of the cell.

Larry remarked, “Oh my God, this is how we should’ve ended the finale,” prompting Jerry’s agreement, “Oh my God, you’re right, how did we not think of that?”
