Beyoncé’s latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” has soared to the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart, as reported by Billboard.
The album, released on March 29, has impressively sold 407,000 album-equivalent units in the United States alone. This achievement marks Beyoncé’s eighth time clinching the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.
With sales reaching 407,000 units, “Cowboy Carter” has not only claimed the title of the biggest week for an album in 2024 but also stands as the largest since Taylor Swift’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” garnered 1.653 million units on November 11, 2023. This accomplishment marks Beyoncé’s most significant week in terms of album sales since her release of “Lemonade” in 2016, which debuted at No. 1 with 653,000 units, making it her most successful streaming week to date.
Moreover, “Cowboy Carter” has made its mark on various Billboard charts, including Top Country Albums, Americana/Folk Albums, and Top Album Sales. Notably, Beyoncé’s achievement extends beyond sales figures; she has become the first black woman to top the Top Country Albums chart since its inception in 1964.
The success of “Cowboy Carter” is reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” which debuted at No. 1 in July 2023 with 716,000 units, marking the biggest week for a country album since then.
Earlier this year, Beyoncé made history by becoming the first black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with her single “Texas Hold ‘Em” in February.
The album, comprising 27 tracks, features noteworthy collaborations with artists such as Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Dolly Parton, Willie Jones, Brittney Spencer, and Willie Nelson.
Beyoncé’s dominance on the Billboard 200 albums chart is well-established, with previous No. 1 albums including “Dangerously In Love” (2003), “B’Day” (2006), “I Am… Sasha Fierce” (2008), “4” (2011), “Beyoncé” (2013), “Lemonade” (2016), and “Renaissance” (2022).
