Directed by the visionary Tim Burton, the upcoming movie brings back the iconic Michael Keaton, known for his portrayal of Betelgeuse (pronounced “Beetlejuice”) in the original film.

Fans can rejoice as many familiar faces are expected to return, including Winona Ryder reprising her role as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz. Joining the ensemble cast is Jenna Ortega, best known as Netflix’s Wednesday Addams, who will breathe life into the character Astrid Deetz as part of the Deetz household.

Adding to the excitement, the screenplay for the upcoming film is crafted by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creative minds behind Netflix’s “Wednesday,” which catapulted Jenna Ortega into the hearts of millions.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Ortega shared her excitement about joining the sequel to one of her beloved films. Recalling her first viewing experience of “Beetlejuice,” she reminisced about the undeniable allure the movie held, even before she watched it.

When asked about her feelings on joining a franchise with the potential to captivate a whole new generation of fans, Ortega expressed optimism. She remarked,

“I believe that in today’s entertainment landscape, studios often rely on reboots, sequels, and familiar franchises to draw audiences to theaters. However, the decision to revive Beetlejuice, out of all the possible options, is particularly exciting. It’s a reminder that audiences crave the opportunity to revisit unconventional, peculiar, and even unsettling narratives.”

The 21-year-old actress emphasized the importance of introducing today’s screen-bound generation to new and creative ideas, suggesting that embracing the peculiarities of such narratives could invigorate the film industry as a whole.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2024, promising a nostalgic yet fresh journey into the bizarre and delightful world of the afterlife.
