‘Dawson’s Creek’ Leaving Netflix in May 2022‘Dawson’s Creek’ Leaving Netflix in May 2022

After 18 months in Netflix, Dawson’s Creek will soon leave Netflix in the US (and possibly other regions) on May 1, 2022 with your last day to watch April 30, 2022.

Initially it was aired on WB between 1998 to 2003, this series has become one of the most loved classic and comfort shows. In terms of streaming, shows like Dawson’s Creek have seen their balloon values.

Netflix obtained global streaming rights to Dawson’s Creek at the end of 2020 with it arrived at our Netflix on November 1, 2020. It also arrived in other Netflix areas such as England, Canada and Australia on the same date. Some regions must wait until 2021 to receive seasons 1 to 8.

Now, 18 months after licensed to Netflix the US has now been announced it will depart on May 1, 2022.

It should be noted that Dawson’s Creek did not display on Netflix US Top 10 at all but performed a short appearance at Netflix Australia, Ireland, Italy, Canada and New Zealand. This is more than likely because 10 Top Netflix only considers the display per season that is contrary to the entire show.

Is Dawson’s Creek leaving Netflix globally?

Chances are even though we might have to wait a few weeks to find out if it’s just Netflix in the United States that loses the show or is it global.

Why is Dawson’s Creek leaving Netflix?

It just down to how Netflix licensed a lot of content. In this case, Netflix does not have Dawson’s Creek and in this case, only licensed titles for a certain time and now the license will appear.

When the license ends, it goes down to Netflix and in this case Sony comes to new settings. As mentioned, classic TV shows rarely come to Netflix with most of them back to their home streaming or sold for premiums (see Seinfeld).

Where will Dawson’s Creek stream next?

In the US, this show is expected to continue to flow on the upstream and HBO Max for now. Given it is a Sony show, it will only if the platform decides to continue to update the license.

Internationally, the availability is a lot of spottier. In England, for example, TV IMDB has access to 3 seasons but beyond it, you are locked on vod options that can be expensive.
