Drake Bell has spoken out in the fifth episode of Investigation Discovery’s documentary series, “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.” Amid the allegations surrounding certain individuals on Nickelodeon sets, Bell’s mother, Robin Dodson, faced heavy trolling. She was unfairly blamed for allowing Brian Peck, the voice coach who sexually abused Drake Bell, to become close to her son.
In response to this backlash, Bell addressed the issue in the fifth episode of the documentary. During the bonus episode, Bell spoke with journalist Soledad O’Brien, emphasizing the strong relationship he shares with his mother and urging viewers not to judge her unfairly.
Bell explained,
“In that situation, at that time, Brian was incredibly skilled at manipulation. He was so calculated, knowing exactly what to say, how to say it, and how to present himself. I completely understand how he managed to deceive everyone. It’s tragic.”
The actor told many events from his childhood, including his experiences in court. Brian had many people supporting him, but the only one who stood up for him was his family.
Bell also recalled how Brian Peck created his family’s indifference for his own benefit. When Drake got into acting, his parents, Robin Dodson and Joe Bell, were in the middle of a divorce. His father noticed that Peck was often close to Drake during their coaching days. When Joe Bell expressed his displeasure about this, he was not well received by those around him.
Meanwhile, Brian accused Joe Bell of stealing money, accusing him of being an obstacle to his son’s successful career. Drake also said that Brian saw his parents’ rift as an opportunity.
