Sony has unveiled details regarding the upcoming PC release of Helldivers 2, the latest creation from Arrowhead Game Studios, slated to launch on February 8th. Notably, the company has confirmed crossplay functionality between PlayStation and PC platforms. Helldivers 2 adheres to the well-received template of its predecessor, Helldivers, originally released in 2015, featuring a multiplayer option supporting a maximum of four players.
Katherine Baskin, Arrowhead Game Studios’ social media and community manager, shared insights on the PlayStation blog, emphasizing the game’s crossplay support. This means that PC players can engage seamlessly with those on PS5 and vice versa. Baskin expressed the significance of fostering community and teamwork within Helldivers 2, stating, “Community and teamwork are the most important pillars of Helldivers 2, and so it is essential to ensure players can work together regardless of the system they choose to use. Together, we can celebrate victories, mourn losses, and liberate the galaxy without platform boundaries.”
In Helldivers 2, players embark on missions in an alien world to achieve objectives, overpower and defeat local adversaries, and strategize their escape. Distinguishing itself from its predecessor, the game introduces a third-person perspective, while still allowing players to customize strategies and loadouts.
The developers have also disclosed the system specifications for PC players to optimize their gaming experience. Minimum performance requirements include an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 470 GPU, while recommended performance suggests an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT GPU. For those opting for performance mode, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 GPU is recommended, while ultra mode demands an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU.
Helldivers 2 is currently available for pre-purchase on both the PlayStation Store and Steam. Since September 22, 2023, users have had the option to choose between the standard edition and the super citizen edition.
