Renowned American actress Barbara Rush passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Sunday, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances. Her daughter, Claudia Cowan, a senior correspondent at Fox News, confirmed the news to Fox News Digital.

“With a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my beloved mother at 5:28 this evening.” I had the privilege of being with her this morning, and I knew she was waiting for me to return home safely to transition,” Cowan expressed to the media outlet.

Rush’s departure on Easter holds special significance as it was one of her cherished holidays, adding a deeper layer of meaning for Cowan and her family.

Barbara Rush enjoyed a remarkable career spanning over seven decades, initially honing her craft as a theater artist at the Pasadena Playhouse. Her talent caught the attention of Paramount Pictures, leading to her debut in the 1950 comedy-drama “The Goldbergs.” Subsequently, she showcased her acting prowess in notable films like George Pal’s “When Worlds Collide” (1951) and “Flaming Feather” (1952), where she co-starred with Sterling Hayden.

However, it was her role as Ellen Fields in the 1953 science fiction horror classic “It Came From Outer Space” that catapulted her career to new heights, earning her the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Female.

Throughout her illustrious career, Rush collaborated with esteemed actors including Rock Hudson, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, and Richard Burton. Beyond the silver screen, she graced numerous television shows such as the “Batman” series and “The Bionic Woman,” as well as appearing in “Maude,” “Cannon,” “Streets of San Francisco,” “Fantasy Island,” “Love Boat,” and “Murder, She Wrote.”
