Jackie Chan Clarifies His Older Look as 'Just a Character Appearance'

Jackie Chan recently took to Instagram to offer his fans a reassuring update on his health. Concerns had arisen among his followers following a recent public appearance where his beard appeared unkempt and his hair grayed. To alleviate worries, the esteemed actor chose his 70th birthday to set the record straight, explaining that his altered appearance was simply for a role in an upcoming movie.

The renowned star began by sharing a series of throwback pictures, expressing gratitude for the remarkable 62-year journey of his career. Addressing the viral sensation surrounding images from a recent event in China, Chan acknowledged the attention but remained tight-lipped about the specific character requiring him to age up.

While keeping details about the character under wraps, it’s known that Chan lent his voice to ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’ last year. Now, he’s set to revisit his role as Mr. Han in the forthcoming Karate Kid installment, slated for release on December 13, 2024. Ralph Macchio will also return, reprising his iconic role from the original 1984 film.

Joining the chorus of well-wishers was American actor and producer Will Smith, who penned a heartfelt birthday message to Jackie Chan. Notably, Smith’s son, Jaden Smith, shared the screen with Chan in the 2010 adaptation of ‘The Karate Kid.’ In his message, Will Smith included nostalgic photos from the film’s production alongside a warm caption, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
