Kolkata Municipal Corporation election: TMC wins 101 wards, leads in 33; BJP bags 1 seat

 The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) held power in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation as the party won 101 out of 144 wards and drove in 33 others in the urban body surveys. The counting of the votes started at 8 am on Tuesday.

In the mean time, the BJP packed away one seat and was driving in three wards, starting at Tuesday evening. The Congress won two seats and the CPI(M)- drove Left Front was driving in two wards, a State Election Commission official said.

“According to the patterns, the TMC is driving in 33 wards and has won 101 seats. It currently has a reasonable larger part in the KMC. The BJP is driving in three wards, while its applicant Mina Devi Purohit won from ward number 22. The CPI(M) and CPI are ahead in one ward each and the Congress has won two seats,” the State Election Commission official said.

 TMC MLA and sitting councilor Atin Ghosh won in ward number 11 in north Kolkata. In ward number 118, TMC pioneer Tarak Singh was successful for the third back to back time.

The Congress’ Santosh Pathak and Usman Ansari won ward numbers 45 and 137 separately.

In ward number 22, BJP’s sitting councilor and previous agent city hall leader of Kolkata Mina Devi Purohit won for the 6th continuous time.

The BJP is driving in ward numbers 23, 41, and 50. The CPI(M) is ahead in ward number 103.
