Actress Sarah Hyland, known for her role in Modern Family, took to her Instagram on March 27 to announce that she won’t be returning as the host for the sixth season of Love Island USA.
Having served as the host for the fourth and fifth seasons, Hyland expressed her decision through her Instagram story.
While there hasn’t been an official confirmation regarding her replacement, TMZ reported exclusively that Ariana Madix from Vanderpump Rules fame is slated to be the new host of Love Island USA. Although the deal hasn’t been finalized yet, it’s anticipated to be confirmed soon.
Love Island originated in the United Kingdom as a reality dating show where contestants live together in picturesque locations, forming various relationships—be it romantic or platonic—in order to remain on the island and win the prize money as a couple. CBS adapted the series for the United States, premiering on July 9, 2019.
Following a successful run of three seasons from 2019 to 2022, Peacock picked up the series for further seasons.
Sarah Hyland took over as the host in 2022, replacing Arielle Vandenberg, who hosted the first three seasons.
Interestingly, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Simon Thomas, one of the show’s executive producers, was asked about his experience working with Sarah as a host.
Thomas praised Hyland, stating, “Sarah’s fantastic! She’s just such a natural and so likable, and, you know, I think the Islanders all look up to her as well. So she’s been a joy to work with.”
