“Lopez vs. Lopez” is a sitcom featuring the renowned American comedian George Lopez alongside his daughter, Mayan Lopez. The series made its debut on NBC on November 4, 2022, and received a renewal for its second season in May 2023. Notably, Netflix acquired the rights to the sitcom, making it available on Netflix US in November 2023, inclusive of all 22 episodes from its initial season. Co-created by George Lopez, Mayan Lopez, and Debby Wolfe, the storyline revolves around the father-daughter duo of George and Mayan as they move in together, striving to strengthen their relationship amidst various challenges during the inaugural season. Following its Netflix release, the show quickly gained traction, claiming the sixth spot on the list of most-watched shows on November 7, 2023.

While fans eagerly anticipate the return of the show for its second season, there remains uncertainty about its presence on the Netflix platform. Initially slated for 13 episodes, the second season was later trimmed down to 10. Although the exact release date is yet to be announced, Debby Wolfe, the creator and executive producer, confirmed on Instagram that the anticipated release is set for February 2024.

The inaugural season delved into Mayan’s struggles as a child of divorced parents and George’s battle with alcoholism. The season concluded with George’s decision to abstain from alcohol, driven by the realization that he was beginning to forget precious moments with his family. While it neatly tied up the storyline of George’s alcoholism, the second season holds promise for an array of new possibilities. Fans eagerly await the show’s return to the screen and anticipate an expanded guest star cast, building on the first season’s inclusion of Mellisa Fumero, Danny Trejo, and Constance Marie.
