Transformers One CinemaCon

Paramount Pictures made waves at CinemaCon last year with the announcement of their casting coup for “Transformers One,” enlisting the talents of Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Brian Tyree Henry. Notably, this marks the first foray into animation for the Transformers franchise in nearly forty years. The excitement peaked during Thursday night’s presentations with the unveiling of an extended trailer for the highly anticipated film, accompanied by the debut of its official logo.

The event kicked off with a prerecorded message from Marvel’s Black Widow, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson herself, currently immersed in her directorial debut, “Eleanor the Great,” in New York. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry took the stage to introduce the 3D first look and extended trailer for the eagerly awaited movie.

The trailer is set to be officially released on April 18, 2024.

Expressing his enthusiasm onstage, Hemsworth shared, “I am thrilled to portray a youthful Optimus Prime and delve into facets of this character unseen by audiences before.” He also humbly acknowledged the privilege of lending his voice to Optimus Prime, a role immortalized by Peter Cullen.

The upcoming animated feature will delve into the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron during their formative years. The official logline reads:

“Experience the long-awaited origin story detailing the transformation of two iconic figures in the Transformers Universe, Orion Pax and D-16, from allies to archenemies, ultimately becoming Optimus Prime and Megatron.”

Chris Hemsworth will voice Orion Pax, with Brian Tyree Henry lending his voice to D-16. Additionally, Scarlett Johansson will voice Elita-1.

Following a year-long silence from Paramount regarding casting and release updates, fans were left in suspense, compounded by the uncertainties of Hollywood strikes. However, Paramount recently broke the silence with a tweet announcing the movie’s release window. An April 11 post read:

“We’re ready to roll out. Get ready for ‘Transformers One’ hitting screens soon!”
