Ubisoft Unveils Fresh Subscription Options: Classics and Plus Premium Plans

Ubisoft, the renowned video game publisher, has revamped its subscription model, introducing a novel premium service tailored for enthusiasts of classic games. This announcement mirrors a burgeoning trend in the gaming industry, empowering players to select plans aligned with their financial constraints and preferences. The Ubisoft Plus premium subscription, now rebranded as Ubisoft+ Premium, is priced at $17.99 per month, supplanting the previous Ubisoft+ Multi-Access and PC Access options. Subscribers to this premium plan will enjoy early access to the latest games, including day-one releases such as the eagerly awaited “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown,” in addition to exclusive editions and monthly rewards.

Ubisoft elucidated in a blog post that Ubisoft+ Premium will grant users access to premium editions of games from the very first day across platforms like Xbox, PC, and Amazon Luna, requiring only one subscription for this multi-access privilege. Complementing this, Ubisoft has introduced a more budget-friendly alternative named Ubisoft+ Classics, priced at $7.99 per month and accessible exclusively on PC through the Ubisoft store. According to the blog post, “Players can subscribe to Ubisoft+ Classics, a curated selection of our most popular back-catalog games, like Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs: Legion.”

This subscription plan is explicitly crafted for users seeking to relish Ubisoft’s classic games at a more economical rate. However, it does not encompass new releases or premium versions. It extends access to PlayStation+ Premium members and PlayStation+ Extra, available for purchase at the Ubisoft store on PC.

Philippe Tremblay, Ubisoft’s Director of Subscriptions, attributes the success of Ubisoft+ services to blockbuster games like “Assassin’s Creed” and “Rainbow Six.” He expressed confidence in the value proposition of the Ubisoft+ Classics plan, stating, “We believe it’s a compelling offer at this price point, and the catalog will continue expanding over time, allowing players to delve even further into our diverse gaming worlds.”
