Wolf Man Release Delayed: New Premiere Date Revealed

Fans eagerly awaiting the debut of Universal Pictures’ “Wolf Man” this Halloween season will have to exercise patience as the anticipated release has been postponed. Blumhouse’s “Wolf Man,” originally slated for October 25, 2024, will now hit theaters on January 17, 2025, following confirmation from Deadline regarding the three-month delay.

Directed by Leigh Whannell, the film stars Christopher Abbott, acclaimed for his role in “Poor Things,” in the lead as the titular character. “Wolf Man” unfolds the harrowing tale of a man whose family becomes the target of a perilous predator. Details regarding the plot remain under wraps for now.

Abbott, recognized for his compelling performances in projects such as “The Sinner” and Apple TV+’s “The Crowded Room,” steps into the lead role originally intended for Ryan Gosling, known for his portrayal of Barbie’s Ken. Gosling’s departure due to scheduling conflicts led to Abbott’s casting, infusing the project with fresh energy.

Joining Abbott are Emmy Award-winning actress Julia Garner and versatile actor-screenwriter Sam Jaeger, though specifics about their roles remain undisclosed. Jason Blum spearheads production, supported by a team of executive producers including Gosling, Ken Kao, Beatriz Sequeira, Melanie Turner, and Leigh Whannell.

In related news, Universal Pictures announced the removal of Blumhouse’s “The Woman in the Yard” from its original release date of January 10, 2025. The film, helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra and featuring Danielle Deadwyler, will be rescheduled for a later date. Producers Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain lead the project, with a roster of executive producers including Collet-Serra, Deadwyler, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg, and James Moran.

While the delay may disappoint some fans, it presents an opportunity for the filmmakers to refine their craft and deliver a polished product. With additional time for development, “Wolf Man” stands poised to captivate audiences and potentially become a blockbuster success.
