"India Not Born In 1947": PM To Senior Sikh Leaders Ahead Of Punjab Polls"India Not Born In 1947": PM To Senior Sikh Leaders Ahead Of Punjab Polls

New Delhi: India was not born in 1947, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in interaction with senior sikh leaders at his home in Delhi ahead of the election of the punjab on Sunday.

“The country was barely born in 1947. Our teachers experienced a lot … we suffered so many oppression during emergencies. I was underground at that time. I used to use Sikh’s disguise to hide. I used to use Pagdi. I used to wear Pagdi, “PM Modi was heard telling a meeting in the video released by his office.

Reaching Communities, PM Modi repeated his comments that Congress failed to ensure that Sikh Kartarpur Sahib’s temple lived in India during the 1947 partition. Kartarpur Sahib was in Pakistan and about six km from Punjab.

“They can’t reach an agreement to bring Kartarpur, which is six km away. I started talking through a diplomatic channel. When I used to live in Punjab, I used to see (Kartarpur Sahib) using binoculars. Then I used to think we had to do something,” said PM Modi.

“This is such a holy duty with a blessing, we do it. What we have done in a short time, this will not be possible without devotion,” he added.

He also talked about bringing Teacher Granth Sahib from Afghanistan.

“The Guru Granth Sahib must be brought back in pride of Afghanistan. We make arrangements and provide special aircraft. I asked our ministers to bring him back respectfully. It was very valuable in our lives. As someone from Gujarat, I want to say that I have Blood ties with you as one of the phyard gobind singh is from Gujarat, “said PM.

During the meal, the prime minister distributed dishes to Sikh leaders, saying: “I want to do Seva today.”

The leaders also welcomed the prime minister by wrapping Saffron Patkas or the surrounding scarf; PM was seen telling his staff not to let the cloth touch the ground.

One of the Sikh leaders told PM Modi that he was “first PM” to try to reach every heart. “The heart of Modi-ji is Sikh’s heart,” he said.

“This is your house. Like you, I walked to this place, I will also walk to Gurudwara,” said PM Modi.

BJP is fighting for the election of the punjab in the alliance with the former Chairman of the Amarinder Minister of Punjab Singh Congress and the Akali Dal faction led by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.
